Karlskirche

Karlskirche, or St. Charles’ Church in English, is a spectacular baroque construction with a 72 metre high elongated dome, designed by the architect Johann Fischer von Erlach in 1715; it is located in the centre of
Vienna , on Karlsplatz. The famous 20th century sculptor Henry Moore redesigned the space in front of the building in the 1970’s.The church was originally erected under the order of Emperor Karl VI during a severe plague epidemic. Nowadays Karlskirche is the parish church and an important Viennese landmark, renowned for its contrasting architectural elements.
