Orangery
Orangery

The Schoenbrunn Orangery was built in 1755 and was often used by the Habsburg emperor as a classical concert venue and for all kinds of celebrations, including a concert conducted by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Sallierie. Orangeries look a little like a greenhouse or a conservatory and they were originally used as just that, greenhouses for citrus trees. During the 17th and 18th centuries, Orangeries became fashionable among the wealthy and could be found in many palace gardens. The baroque Schoenbrunn Orangery is the only remaining one in and is the largest after the one at Versailles .
